Bumrah has surgery and will take 6 months to recover

Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play the IPL and is also doubtful for the WTC final
Bumrah could return in time for the ODI World Cup

Jasprit Bumrah underwent back surgery in Christchurch, and the cricketer is doing well, according to the latest news from New Zealand. Dr Rowan Schouten, a well-known orthopaedic surgeon at Christchurch’s Forte Orthopaedics Hospital, performed the surgery.

According to New Zealand sources, Bumrah, who has been out of action since September of last year, is doing well and is on his way to full recovery. However, a hospital official declined to comment, stating that “any questions regarding Jasprit should be directed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).”

According to the hospital’s website, Dr. Schouten “is a New Zealand-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the management of adult spinal conditions and hip replacement surgery.” As previously reported by this website, he has treated a number of athletes, including cricketers James Pattinson and Jason Behrendorff, in addition to Jofra Archer.

Shane Bond, a former New Zealand pacer who is now the bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians, the team for which Bumrah plays in the Indian Premier League, is thought to have recommended Dr Schouten’s name to the BCCI (IPL). Bond, on the other hand, refuses to admit that the current treatment was his idea. Bond was treated in the Christchurch facility by Schouten’s predecessor, Graeme Inglis, during his career.

The BCCI has yet to issue a statement, but sources within the organization believe the pacer will be able to return to the field by August. He may not be able to play in the Asia Cup, which is set to take place in September, but there is hope that Bumrah will be fully prepared for the World Cup.

The World Cup will be held in India in October and November.
