Sodhi, Duffy missed out to join Sri Lanka Test Series

During the Test series against England that just ended, Ish Sodhi was not selected to be part of the starting lineup.

New Zealand has announced their 13-man squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, with no changes from the team that secured a 1-1 draw against England earlier. Only Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi have been left out of the squad.

Despite being previously sidelined with a groin strain, opener Devon Conway has made it to the squad along with Matt Henry, who had some tightness in his back.

However, Trent Boult is still unavailable as he opted out of the central contract, and Kyle Jamieson will miss the series due to recurrent back injuries requiring surgery.

Head coach Gary Stead stated on Wednesday that the New Zealand squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka has been finalized, and they have decided to stick with the same 13 players who drew the Test series against England at home. Stead mentioned that the team is confident after their recent win against England in Wellington. Sri Lanka must win both the upcoming Tests against New Zealand to stay in the running for a spot in the WTC final. However, for that to happen, Australia must lose all four Tests in their series against India.

NZ to travel to UAE for T20I series

New Zealand will face the UAE in a three-match T20I series in August during their journey to the UK. The matches are scheduled to be played on August 17, 19, and 20, with the locations yet to be confirmed. The upcoming series will only be the second time the two teams have met in a full international match, the first being in the 1996 World Cup ODI held in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

The New Zealand Cricket CEO, David White, stated that it is crucial to keep supporting each other and growing the game internationally. He also mentioned that the BLACKCAPS are excited to test themselves against a strong UAE team. The General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board, Mubashshir Usmani, expressed his appreciation to New Zealand Cricket for their support and stated that this series will be an enormous opportunity for UAE players to learn and compete with some of the best players in the world.
