My game reading is the trick: Harshal Patel reveals what makes his bowling dangerous for top batsmen.

Harshal Patel is one of the most trusted bowlers for RCB in the final overs, and whenever the captain has asked him to provide crucial breakthroughs, the medium-pacer has delivered. Harshal Patel has been a game-changer for all the right reasons, honing his skills to become sharper since the first half of the last decade.

In the latest episode of the RCB Podcast Season 2, Harshal opened up about the phase where he started planning things better and packaging them in a much better way, which made him a critical threat to opposing batting units.

“I learned the packaging of my deliveries from Zaheer Khan in my first-ever season with RCB in IPL,” Harshal said. He basically taught me that there are four types of deliveries: length balls, bouncers, slower ones, and yorkers, and how you package them determines how successful you are. Execution is also important. That was always at the bottom. However, as I previously stated, I continued to practice through trial and error until I realized that there are certain options that work better for me.”

“I’m not just talking about certain options that work better for me; there are also options that don’t work better for me,” he continued. If I’ve exhausted all of my options, I’ll go with the low-probability options. Everyone in the IPL and international cricket knows what I bowl and how I bowl. The trick, however, is in how I read the game, read what I’m trying to do, or stay one step ahead of them.”
